Acupuncture is a healthcare system used all over the world. It is an holistic and individualised treatment, designed to work on your whole body, not just your symptoms.
With the complexities and stress of modern day lifestyles, more and more people are turning to Acupuncture to help resolve their health problems due to its profound and positive impact on mind and body. Originating in China, it is one of the oldest, tried and tested holistic systems of medicine.
When imbalances and disharmony in the body occurs, meridian channels that run throughout the body become blocked. By inserting fine, sterile single use needles into specific points on the channels, Acupuncture helps to remove these blockages, promote the smooth flow of qi (energy) throughout the channels and promote health and wellbeing. Recent MRI scans have shown how this mechanism of acupuncture stimulates the body’s own self healing mechanisms, through its effect on the nervous system.
Regular acupuncture can help support and treat a wide range of conditions or can be used for the maintenance of general health and wellbeing . Some of the more common complaints that clients seek help for include : Stress and anxiety, insomnia, fertility support and IVF, chronic pain, musculoskeletal and joint conditions, men’s health, urinary dysfunction, migraines, IBS, pregnancy support, PMS, menstrual disorders and menopausal symptoms.
There are many factors that can upset our natural balance, such as stress and injury which leads to disharmony in body. By identifying the root cause of the patient’s complaint, my treatments aim to not only ease the presenting physical symptoms, but to restore overall balance and harmony to the body and mind.
After the initial consultation, I will tailor the treatment methods used according to the client’s needs and diagnosis. I use a variety of modalities within TCM and Naturopathy as part of your personalised treatment plan. These may include ear acupuncture, distal acupuncture, electro-acupuncture, heat therapy, cupping, gua-sha and moxibustion. To support your health journey beyond the treatment room, Naturopathic recommendations may be suggested, such as supplements, natural therapies, nutritional and lifestyle advice.
